GRADES 4-9
Immaculate Conception School
Fayetteville, New York
Experience four days of fun, skills, clinics and competition, plus personal attention from Coach Evans and other college players. On Thursday, campers participate in a playoff style tournament and leave with a personal evaluation analyzing their skills along with a camp t-shirt.
For more than 20 years, Coach Steve Evans Basketball Camps
(SE-BBC) have attracted youth campers from Central New York and beyond for one simple reason: the instructional difference. At SE-BBC, each camper plays 8 games and receives training from experienced college and high school players — including Coach Evans himself — on discrete skills, including moving without the ball, stationary moves, moves on the move, finishing school, shooting, and more. Teaching happens all day, every day.

For twenty-four years, our program continues to teach the fundamentals of the game of basketball. Any camper, whether beginner or experienced level player, is welcome at our camps. We are a fundamentals camp. We teach the game, make it fun and keep it fun all week. We teach the same skills that we taught to our scholarship level college players at Le Moyne College for 15 years. We begin with the basics and progress each day as appropriate. More experienced players will be challenged at a more advanced level in our skill sessions.
Regardless of experience level, size or position, we work on every skill from running and jumping, footwork and agility, balance, dribbling, passing, shooting, both individual and team defense, rebounding, team play etc. We work on shooting multiple times each day. We teach the rules and situations of the game as well. Each camper is placed on a camp team with a coach. Our staff is carefully selected to blend high school and current college players to provide a well rounded experience.
In addition to skills and drills, campers participate in daily contests, 3 on 3, and play at least two games each day. While we compete, competition isn’t our primary focus at camp. We want campers to try new things and not fear failure or losing while growing as a player – regardless of their level. We’ll get to know each camper individually and work on the fundamentals of the game as well as each camper’s confidence and self-esteem throughout the week. The goal is to give campers a positive basketball experience and help them develop new skills each day. Combined with that boost in confidence, our hope is they’ll continue to practice the new skills they’ve learned once they get home and beyond.

Steve Evans served as the seventh head men's basketball coach in Le Moyne College history and ranks second in LeMoyne College Men’s Basketball coaching victories behind Thomas J. Niland, Jr. The former assistant basketball coach at Northwestern University and Siena College guided Le Moyne to over 200 wins.
He began the Steve Evans Basketball Camps in 2000 and has directed every phase of the program since. Coach Evans has always enjoyed basketball camp and tirelessly works to ensure a positive summer camp experience for campers and their parents.
Coach Evans has earned the reputation as one of the most trusted college basketball coaches in the Central New York. With his 21 years of experience on the college sidelines, during the basketball season you can often find Coach Evans mid-court at college games working as a color commentator for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and the ACC Network.
Academics was always the first priority for his teams. Of the 48 players to complete their playing eligibility at LeMoyne under Coach Evans recruitment, 46 graduated with a degree (96% Academic Success Rate). In nine of his 15 years as head coach, Evans also had a player named to one of the Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference teams, including seven of his last nine years.
Evans and the Dolphins gained national attention to open the 2009-10 season by defeating Syracuse University, 82-79, in an exhibition contest in the Carrier Dome on November 3. Moreover, after a successful regular season, the 2013-14 Dolphins were selected to the NCAA Tournament. In addition to his role as Head Coach, Coach Evans served on the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Committee, which works to ensure integrity in the sport and its championship selection and competitions.
Most importantly, Coach works with athletes, parents, coaches and administrators, year-round, as a teacher and advocate for positive youth sports locally, regionally and nationally. Coach Evans personally hires the staff and oversees the camp schedule and its’ curriculum daily.
“Camp is and has always been the highlight of my summer. Every day we come to work with one goal – make each day a positive one for each of our campers. Kids playing basketball, making new friends and learning about themselves daily, gives me an energy that I can’t match many places. Watching a young player come to camp at age 7 or 8 and in some cases seeing them play at the varsity level up 9-10 years later is a big reward as well. I get to know them and their families and watch from a distance how they grow as a person.”
